ECODESIGN INTEGRATION IN SMEs - PROPOSAL FOR A KNOW-HOW APPROPRIATION METHOD FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DESIGN
Intégration de l'éco-conception dans les PME: proposition d'une méthode d'appropriation de savoir-faire pour la conception environnementale des produits

The rising societal concerns about environmental issues result in particular in an increasing lawful pressure on the industrial world. The products from the consumer society are at the origin of the generalized phenomenon of degradation of the environment. For this reason, ecodesign represents for the companies the "natural" process to assume their role in the safeguarding of the resources and the environment. However, the european state of the art on ecodesign in the companies shows that the taking into account of the environmental constraints in the product design, although industrial reality, is still an emergent issue. Because of the volume of products they represent, and of the difficulties they have to integrate all new constraint that they do not consider strategic, SMEs must constitute a priority target for the integration of ecodesign. The problems of ecodesign integration in the companies find its origin, on the one hand in an environmental cultural gap, on the other hand in the fact that, the ecodesign tools having been developed apart from the industrial world, the organizational aspects of integration were not considered. We thus propose in this study an ecodesign integration method - the MAIECO method - allowing, through an organizational learning process, an organizational change management in the company, and aiming at the appropriation by this one of its own ecodesign approach. This method lies in particular on an original tool for environmental analysis of the products - the ATEP tool - allowing the participating members of the company to acquire the minimal basis of environmental knowledge during the analysis phase of the ecodesign process.
Les produits étant à l'origine du phénomène de dégradation généralisé de l'environnement, l'éco-conception se trouve être, pour les entreprises, le processus "naturel" pour assumer leur rôle dans la préservation des ressources et de l'environnement. Or, l'état de l'art européen sur l'éco-conception dans les entreprises montre que la prise en compte des contraintes environnementales dans la conception des produits, bien que réalité industrielle, est encore un phénomène émergent. Les PME, en raison du volume de produits mis sur le marché qu'elles représentent, et de la difficulté qu'elles éprouvent à intégrer toute nouvelle contrainte qu'elles ne jugent pas stratégiques, constituent logiquement une cible prioritaire pour l'intégration de l'éco-conception. La problématique de l'intégration de l'éco-conception dans les entreprises trouve son origine, d'une part dans un déficit culturel environnemental, d'autre part dans le fait que, les outils d'éco-conception ayant été développés en dehors du monde industriel, les aspects organisationnels de l'intégration n'ont pas été considérés. Nous proposons donc dans ce travail de recherche une méthode d'intégration de l'éco-conception - la méthode MAIECO - permettant, par l'intermédiaire de processus d'apprentissage organisationnel, une gestion du changement dans l'entreprise, et visant l'appropriation par celle-ci de sa propre démarche. Cette méthode s'appuie notamment sur un outil original d'analyse environnementale des produits - l'outil ATEP - permettant l'apprentissage d'une base minimale de connaissances environnementales par les membres participants de l'entreprise, lors de la phase d'analyse du processus d'éco-conception.
