Water Jetting Milling Model: Application at the Automobile Tyres Dismantling

Abstract : Actually, the principal recycling solution at the end of the life of the old materials is the shredding, in order to separate all the various materials as well as possible. In our study, we tried to show the interest of using the high pressure water jet technology as a dismantling tool, with the possibility to obtain a very small material powder, completely separated from the others element. In the first experimental approach we studied the parameters process .in order to explain all the phenomenae. Our proposition consisted in setting up a simulator computing system in order to forecast the flow rate matter. We worked for the experimental approach with a multi - jet rotary nozzles, usually used for stripping applications. The tests were realized on small size rubber sample with the objective to have different section of matter with different waterjet parameters. This experimental approach proved that there is an important difference between the depth of kerf of one nozzle in cutting application and the depth with the multi-jet rotatory system. It was calculated for all the section of rotary systems. We obtained like that the "kerfs concentration" for all the points of the surface sample, representing by the addition of length of the kerfs for 1 mm2. We used for the theoretical study the cutting model of Graham and Wilkins. It is possible like that to obtain a depth of kerf for all the nozzles. We used the kerfs concentration and the amplification factor to obtain the removal section of matter. An application was realised for tyres.
