Nouveaux ligands carbènes à base d'hétéroéléments (P, S) : Étude théorique et applications en chimie organométallique et en catalyse.

Abstract : Carbene complexes have widespread applications in organic synthesis and catalysis (olefin metathesis, annulation, cyclopropanation...). The main focus of this research project deals with the synthesis of carbene complexes featuring phosphorus substituents at the carbene center. The access to these new species relies on the elaboration of stable precursors which are decomposed in the coordination sphere of transition metals and lanthanides. This strategy has been applied using to a joint the! oretical and experimental approach that allowed an accurate description of the electronic structure of both carbene precursors and their complexes as well as a rationalization of their reactivity. The first complexes bearing a P-heterocyclic carbene (PHC) ligand have been prepared. The metal-carbon interaction in these complexes is strongly influenced by both the metal fragment and the substitution scheme at the P-atoms so that a continuum between Fischer-type and Schrock-type complexes should be accessible within this class of carbene complexes.
