Aéroacoustique et aérodynamique instationnaire, numérique et expérimentale des ventilateurs centrifuges à action

Abstract : Forward centrifugal fans are widely used in several applications. These fans are characterized by highly detached complex flows and a weak aerodynamic efficiency. This thesis concerns the numerical prediction and the implementation of an experimental analysis of the unsteady flow and the aeroacoustic behavior of forward centrifugal fans. This work consists of numerical simulation of the internal unsteady flow in these fans. The numerical simulations based on the URANS approach have been carried out on different flow rates and have been validated experimentally. The experimental validation concerned the overall variables of the flow (overall performances), the local variables (wall pressure fluctuations) and the acoustic variables obtained at free and far field. On the other hand, the experimental investigations contributed to validate a recent turbulence modeling based on the SAS approach. In addition to the numerical models validation, which are used in the CFD simulations, the experimental analysis coupled with other numerical calculations have been applied on various prototypes of centrifugal fans in order to optimize the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performances of these fans. Thus, the influence of the design parameters has been evaluated.
