Modélisation des échanges surface/subsurface à l'échelle de la parcelle par une approche darcéenne multidomaine

Abstract : This study deals with physically-based distributed modelling of surface/subsurface interactions. A new modelling approach, called Darcy multi-domain approach, is presented. Richards and diffusive wave equations are used to describe respectively infiltration and runoff processes. Diffusive wave is turned into a non-linear diffusion equation that looks like Richards one. Overland flow is then assimilated as a flow in porous medium that has particular properties. A porous layer, called runoff layer, is introduced in the computational domain. The whole surface/subsurface dynamics is then described in a Darcy continuum by a single non-linear Darcy equation with domain dependant parameters. It allows to impose a hydraulic continuity between surface and subsurface waters. A transport model that allows to deal with hydrograph separation is also implemented. The model is evaluated from classical test cases of the literature. A sensibility analysis and a detailed study of Hortonian runoff are then presented. Finally, the plot scale experiment realized by IRD in Thies, Senegal is reproduced. Results are satisfying and show that the developed modelling approach allows to reproduce the strongly coupled dynamics of small scale hydrological systems.
