Industrialisation de procédé : contribution à la maîtrise de l'opération de tréflage ou fraisage vertical-approches analytique et expérimentale

Abstract : This work focuses on the advance machining process and in particular on the plunge or vertical milling operation. The purpose of this research is the understanding of machining operations in order to define the limits and the performances of plunge milling and its associated processes. In order to position the plunge milling operation, we compare it to the other existing milling operations. We then briefly present its applicability and associated technologies. The approach for the machining process consists of the definition of plunge milling controlling parameters. We defined the kinematics parameters of this operation according to its specific trajectory. Then, we defined the parameters characterizing the geometry of cut as a function of the generated part movements. In the end, we proposed the modeling of cutting forces. Our model is founded on the mechanistic definition approach of cutting forces. We experimentally validated the model of cutting forces, especially for dies and molds materials. This model allows the prediction of cutting forces in a fast and simple way. In addition, we proposed some strategies for plunge milling which allowed the use of this operation by defining relevant and restrictive criteria such as the metal removal rate and the obtained surface quality. Then, we compared plunge milling to traditional milling within the framework of the machining of deep pockets (cavities), a field reserved for this operation. Finally, the industrialization of the plunge milling process, thus described, allows the understanding of this operation by taking into account technological constraints (operating conditions, machining strategy...). It is complementary to approaches such as couple tool - material or couple tool - edge. On a broader context, this approach leads to a better understanding of the application domain of plunge milling and can be generalized to new machining technologies. Moreover, the mechanistic modeling of cutting forces, the choice of operating conditions as well as the machining strategies can lead to the optimization of the plunge milling operation.
