Modélisation et conception préliminaire d'un séchoir solaire pour bois de pin avec stockage d'énergie

Abstract : Based on a detailed study of existing solar kiln dryers, an innovative solar dryer concept including a thermal storage has been defined through an analysis considering the laws of evolution of a technical system. Due to the specificity of the design and the use of control variables to schedule the dry process, a sequential modelling of the different units of the system and their surrounding environments is required. The resulting models comprise necessarily the design variables. The drying is modelled using the classical drying characteristic curve approach. For the other units, a parsimonious modelling is used to reduce computation time. These models are also qualified considering parsimony, accuracy, precision and specialization. A model for the surrounding environment corresponding to weather conditions is proposed using meteorological data from Mexico airport area. The dry process kinetic has been modelled using results of convective drying experiments on maritime pine boards. The global model of the solar dryer is obtained by gathering the units models and those of interaction components (fan and vents) and using control variables. Results are analysed considering drying time, wood quality and return on investment time. They lead to the definition of dry scheduling allowing management of wood quality. The resulting solar kiln dryer is innovative and cost effective, and is usable in the wood drying industry in Mexico.
