Analysis of the distributional effects of various transport policies

Abstract : This thesis contributes to the empirical literature on the distributive effects of transport policies. The first three chapters examine successively the distributive effects of a congestion charging scheme in Paris, a carbon tax on car fuels in France, and various public transport policies in the Paris Region. We use econometric and statistical analysis to measure the distribution of costs and benefits induced by the different policies across households. A last study uses the hedonic price method to measure the impact of the "Quartiers Verts" et "Quartiers Tranquilles" policies on property values in Paris. Those two urban development policies from the Paris municipality aim at fostering the use of environmentally friendly transport modes.
