Émission infrarouge sous champ électrique dans le cristal de ZnSe dopée au chrome

Abstract : Light Sources in the near infrared are very promising for many applications such as absorption spectrometry of polluants or in the medical field. Currently, Cr:ZnSe is commonly used as a laser medium through optical pumping for emission in the 2-3 μm spectral range. We present here our results on infrared electroluminescence in single cristal Cr:ZnSe. Emission of infrared light by electrical pumping is the first step toward an electrically pumped laser based on Cr:ZnSe. To this end, we explore electro-optical excitation mechanisms coupled with a heuristic study of chemical and mechanical properties of ZnSe. Our results on spectraly resolved photo-conductivity (in the visible and near ultra-violet domain) and electrically enhanced infrared photoluminescence show the potential of a double excitation, both electrical and optical, to reach an efficient infrared emission.
