Développement d'une méthodologie de fiabilisation des prises de décisions environnementales dans le cadre d'analyses de cycle de vie basée sur l'analyse et la gestion des incertitudes sur les données d'inventaires

Abstract : Life Cycle Assessment is defined as a recognized approach to assess the environmental performance of products, processes and services. However, despite the standardization which has been in the 1990s, some limitations remain and contribute to decrease the reliability of its results. The failure to take systematically into account uncertainties and data quality, and its time-consuming character belong. These shortcomings highlight the need to develop a methodology to manage these two parameters.This is in this context that we perform our research. We therefore propose a methodology to reliable environmental decisions based on LCA, from analysis and management of uncertainty on inventory data. The latter combines a qualitative approach based on a pedigree matrix and a quantitative approach to propagate uncertainty parameters through the use of Monte Carlo simulations. The developed methodology allows us to first estimate the quality of inventories and therefore the outcome, and secondly to identify and locate the data the most influential on the quality index. This analysis, generated from relatively accessible information also allows an optimization of the data collection and allocated resources. We can indeed, judge the relevance of data collection by incorporating additional potential degradation of a given data on the reliability of final results. The findings of our research should contribute to the credibility of LCA results and facilitate the implementation of such analysis by the rational management of data collection efforts.
