Mise en situation numérique et expérimentale de composants prothétiques pour l'appareillage de personnes amputées du membre inférieur

Abstract : Lower limb amputation results in life-Iong disability. Prosthetic management is the only alternative allowing patients to mimic the human locomotor apparatus and restore function. Quantification of disability compensation can be determined using gait analysis. The first aim of this work is to extend this quantified analysis to other current real world situations encountered by people using prosthetic limbs. Research on the influence of gait speed and the analysis of stair descent was carried out with the clinical collaboration of the CERAH (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche sur l'Appareillage des Handicapés). Comparing amputees' gait with that of a non-disabled subject allowed defining objective and functional parameters with their limit. The second aim of this work, conducted with the industrial support of Proteor, is to define experimental methods and numerical models in order to evaluate functional parameters on isolated prosthetic components. For that, experimentally and numerically created boundary conditions simulating those observed in the gait of amputee subjects were reproduced. The proof of concept of these tools was established to allow functional evaluation of prosthetic components during the design phase. The work carried out in this thesis thus contributes to a better understanding of prosthetic components. Analyzing components both isolated from the prosthetic apparatus and in full functional conditions offers complementary information and different perspectives helping to better comprehend a patient's adjustment to the use of an apparatus.
