Contribution à l'évolution du retour d'expérience en tunnel routier vers un outil de compréhension du comportement humain (usager et exploitant)

Abstract : Even if the number of events in road tunnels is globally low, several recents events have shown that a vehicle fire can lead to disastrous consequences. To limit consequences of such events, French regulation imposes to tunnel operators tunnels technical and exploitation means. The first are for users to protect themselves. The second concern a system for analysis of the signifiants events. The learning from experience emphases that the observed users behaviour differs of the expectations. As for other areas, Learning from Experience for road tunnels was first developed from a technical and quantitative perspective. Technological progress having allowed a high level of safety to be reached, a qualitative approach is now necessary, including human and organisational aspects. This research project was set up with the aim of including knowledge about human behaviour during events in road tunnels in Learning from Experience. This method has been used during safety exercises and real events. It provides objective elements for understanding road users' behaviour faced with dangerous situations, and thus allows progression beyond certain pre-conceived ideas. A users evacuation model was derived and improvements of the regulatory safety systems for users evacuation were proposed.
