TRANSITION VITREUSE ET TRANSITION DE BLOCAGE: LES SOLIDES DÉSORDONNÉS ENTRE CHAMP MOYEN ET DIMENSION FINIE

Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the study of the transition between liquid and amorphous solid. This transition is found in both thermal systems (like molecular glasses) and athermal systems (for instance in granular matter), both in equilibrium and out of equilibrium. We show that the jamming transition and the glass transition are two different phenomena. To show this we built a model of hard spheres standing on a Bethe lattice, in which both transitions coexist. We also introduce a structural glass model with quenched disorder which exhibits a tunable mean-field behavior. This allows us to follow the dynamic glass transition between mean-field and finite dimension. We also show that this model follows in its mean-field limit an approximation of the dynamics similar, but not equivalent, to the mode-coupling approximation. Finally, we give some theoretical remarks about the analysis of normal modes of colloidal suspensions which are close to their jamming transition.
