Analyse numérique et expérimentale des fluctuations de pression dans les pompes centrifuges

Abstract : Application of centrifugal pumps plays an important role in various sectors of industry in general among them we can mention the automotive, construction of naval facilities, etc. They are commonly used by their hydraulic performances to drive a fluid. It is well known that the behavior of the internal fluid is characterized by strong interactions between the moving parts and the fixed ones which are the origin of noise and vibration. In the case of centrifugal pumps, the noise is characterized especially at the blade passing frequency as a result of the hydrodynamic interaction between the impeller and the volute tongue. The intensity of this excitation, which depends on the geometry and operating conditions, can be harmful in certain conditions and requirements. The research works carried out, through numerical simulations and specific experimental studies enabled us to contribute to the analysis and control of pressure fluctuations in centrifugal pumps. A numerical procedure for predicting the tonal noise at the blade frequency is developed and validated by comparison to experimental results. In addition, improved numerical algorithms and the development of computer hardware have enabled the emergence of flow simulation codes. However, given the accuracy requirements to predict the pressure fluctuations and the difficulty of commercial codes to achieve high-order schemes, lead us to develop our own code. The new code (FV-MLS), which is based on finite volume method and high-order approximations, is implemented with the sliding mesh technique in order to validate the new approach in a 2D configuration centrifugal pump.
