La dimension psychosociale de la gestion par projet dans l'industrie automobile : Le cas des projets véhicule chez Renault SA

Abstract : This thesis is based on three theoretical fields which refer to cooperation on a project : organizational commitment, professional identity and strategic participation. The empirical study is mainly based on a longitudinal case study of a car project - the Laguna's replacement- and uses qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. This work leads to four conclusions. First, it points out that the matrix organization can result in power conflicts on financial and human resources and in intricacy in the decision-making process. Second, it shows that traditional human resource management practice, especially the performance evaluation system; prove to be unadapted to project contexts. Third, it underlines the fact that the vertical and the horizontal structure's differentiation and three different psychosocial attitudes toward the project: the "passive", the "affective" and the "critical" participation. In the first case, people try to resist the project's pressure; in the second one, people develop a strong feeling of membership and of responsibility towards the project; in the last one, people make efforts to reinforce the coordination between the functional and the project line.
