Fonctionnement hydraulique des nappes superficielles de fonds de vallées en interaction avec le réseau hydrographique

Abstract : The main objective of this PhD Thesis is to contribute to a better understanding of the functioning of shallow water-tables drained by a ditch or a stream in humid riparian zones. This should help developing models adapted to improve the management of these zones. The choice has been made to use “1 D-saturated class” models (Boussinesq equation), and more sophisticated models (Laplace, Richards) in order to verify and discuss the main assumed simplifications. Some particular boundary conditions have been studied: (i) water-table recharge heterogeneity; (ii) seepage face phenomenon; (iii) water-table reaching soil surface; (ij) downstream transient condition (free water level). Experiments have been carried out on a physical model in laboratory (MASHyNS apparatus) and at the field scale (Ru de Cétrais watershed, Loire Atlantique). A Boussinesq-based model (SIDRA 2+) has been used and adapted to the various boundary conditions previously cited. This model has been calibrated and validated from field-measurements. The water-table level has been predicted with a very good accuracy at different distances from the ditch.
