Thixotropie des pâtes cimentaires

Abstract : The new cementitious fluid materials present properties of thixotropy, reversible phenomenon of gelation (at rest) - liquefaction (in flow), which it is necessary to understand and characterize. Cross tests of global rheometry (traditional rheometer) and local rheometry (MRI velocimetry) make it possible to obtain the complete behavior in steady and transient state of a white cement paste. In particular we highlight a viscosity bifurcation, representing a brutal change of behavior below a critical shear stress and a critical shear rate. A simple model, based on these observations, makes it possible to find the properties observed. Its application to tests of flows on inclined plane shows that this configuration can prove to be a simple means of practical characterization of thixotropy.
