MÉTHODOLOGIE EXPÉRIMENTALE D'ÉTUDE DU COMPORTEMENT THERMO-MÉCANIQUE DES MATÉRIAUX SOUS SOLLICITATIONS CYCLIQUES

Abstract : The use of the temperature as state variable in the studies of materials behavior, although promising, is seldom adopted. The experimental metrological difficulties which appear, in particular in the context of high cycle fatigue, explain this renunciation partly. The objective of this thesis is to develop an accurate experimental methodology able to detect the variations of thermal energy dissipated during cyclic deformation of a material at stress level lower than the macroscopic yield stress. It consists in determining the various terms of the equation of heat on the basis of the temperature field acquired using an infra-red camera. The standard deviation of the total noise of the method is 1 mK.s-1, expressed by heating speed. This resolution is obtained thanks to certain numbers of experimental precautions, by taking into account of the whole of heat exchange and with a simple treatment making profitable the characteristics of the matrix infra-red camera. The developed experimental procedure is tested on very low carbon steel and aluminum A5. It makes it possible in particular to follow thermal dissipation due to microplastic adaptation of material during first cycles of loading and to distinguish the thresholds from passage of an elastic behavior to viscoelastic then microplastic. The performances obtained should make it possible to raise a part of the bolts limiting the choice of the temperature like variable of observation of materials behavior.
