# Réduction au sens de la norme de Hankel de modèles dynamiques de dimension infinie

Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to study the availability of rational Hankel approximation methods as applied to infinite dimensional linear systems. Three concrete examples illustrate the possibilities of application of the approximation techniques which have been developed the late years, namely by Curtain, Glover and Partington. The selected examples describe evolution phenomena given by distributed parameter systems. We intend to study: a parabolic system, representative of a problem of heat diffusion, for which approximation techniques can be applied almost directly; two hyperbolic systems modelling an undamped flexible beam and the torsion of a beam; in these cases an original method called relaxation'' has been developed: preceeding the Hankel approximation, it allows its application when the rate of growth of the poles associated with the hyperbolic system is sufficiently high.
