Étude de l'environnement et des propriétés optiques des ions Ti3+ formés sous irradiation ionisante dans les verres d'oxyde

Abstract : We studied by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), by EPR simulation, by Raman spectroscopy and by photoluminescence the Ti3+ ions formed under β-irradiation from 3,37 x 10^5 to 1,68 x 10^9 Gy in SiO2 - Na2O - TiO2 and SiO2 - Al2O3 - B2O3 - Na2O - TiO2 glasses. We demonstrate the existence of three different Ti3+ sites in silicate glasses and three other Ti3+ sites in alumino-borosilicate glasses. One of theses sites is common to both kind of glasses. Moreover, we associate theses sites to three different titanium environment : [VI]Ti3+ (octahedral), [V]Ti3+ square pyramid and maybe [V]Ti3+ trigonal bi-pyramid. The existence of theses sites is determined by the total integrated dose and by the [Na]/[Ti] ratio. We propose a definition of this ratio in the special case of SiO2 - Al2O3 - B2O3 - Na2O - TiO2 glasses. Last, under 266 nm excitation, we observe at room temperature an emission band at 500 nm attributed to Ti4+ ions. Under a 532 nm excitation, we observe an emission band at 590 nm with a short lifetime (hundred of ns) attributed either to Ti3+ ions or to an irradiation defect formed near a Ti4+ ion. Our study demonstrate that is possible to control by the chemcial composition and the integrated dose the Ti3+ environment and the emission properties of this ion in an oxyde glass.
