Les rapports exploitation-maintenance et la gestion de l'innovation technologique à la RATP

Abstract : Starting from an historical and sociological study of the innovation process in the Paris Metro during the great technological breaking point in the late sixties, the author shows the capacity for the enterprise to manage the innovation process wich should allow to reach a new step in transportation production, i.e. full metro automation in the Paris environment and the transformation of the existing transportation Network. The case study of a subway line has been used for such a demonstration. The fact that the present technical system was still able to evolve in the management, organisation, occupational and social domains in order to improve its performances has been the starting hypothesis. This hypothesis has been confirmed and propositions to better integrate the socio-professionnal structure have been presented. This dissertation opens upon the full automation projects (AIMT and METEOR) that the RATP put recently into competition before choosing the latter. The necessity to choose an industrial partner to build the new line enabled to sketch two scenaris regarding the future of technological innovation at the RATP.
