Le clouage des sols. Application au soutènement de fouille. Étude expérimentale et dimensionnement

Abstract : Soil reinforcement and especially soil nailing knew recently developments. This method has been used for more than ten years, but the behavior of nailed walls is still not mastered. This report deals with this behaviour and with the design of such walls. Following a brief introducing of the method, the first part of this report presents the actual knowledge in nailed walls and a detailed description of the results obtained on small - scale models build for this work. Some of them, observed for the first time like some aspects of the rupture and of pull-out tests, must be taken into consideration because of the good representativeness of the models. In a second part, the present design methods are recalled, followed by the description of the new program developped for this work. Specifically written for the design of nailed walls, this program is based on new concepts on nailing. Finaly, one can note a good agreement of the first results given by this program with the few experimental data available today.
