Structure et propriétés magnétiques de quelques super-hydrures sous pression : recherche d’un supraconducteur à Tc ambiante et de similarités avec l’hydrogène métallique

Abstract : In a few years, the study of hydrides under pressure has experienced a real boom. Synthesized at pressures of several GPa, these are considered today as an increasingly credible means of observing superconductivity at room temperature. This thesis aimed at developing new tools for the characterization of hydrides, and to synthesize new compounds with atypical properties. H3S was synthesized from the S and H elements and characterized by diffraction, likewise for PdH and PdD, with a search for new polyhydrides by laser-heating. The U-H system, unlike the Pb-H system, proved to be rich in new stoichiometries (up to UH8) at low pressure and could be an excellent experimental analogue of metallic hydrogen. Finally, new paths toward the optimization of the hydrides' TC and metastability have been explored, including the influence of size effects and a first synthesis of ternary hydrides.
