Étude du lien entre le rendu visuel macroscopique et l'organisation microscopique d'un fond de teint

Abstract : Make-up foundation is a complete and complex product. Its main function is to sublimate skin by masking imperfections and adding luminosity. Formulatory expertise enables to assemble some twenty ingredients to answer very strict specification. However, some challenges remain, like for instance the stability of color over time. The objective of this thesis is to better master optical effects thanks to comprehension of physical and physico-chemical phenomena. Temporal evolution of these properties is particularly investigated in a foundation thin film. As a first step, the optical role of each ingredient has been brought to light thanks to a deformulation approach. Thereafter, the study of microscopic organization of the deformulated systems has provided a description of a new kind of instability: cracks appear in an adhesive emulsion thin film during the evaporation of internal phase. Thanks to reformulation of the foundation, the evolution of this organization has been linked to macroscopic visual effects. This work has finally led to the identification of solutions to stabilize the optical properties of make-up foundation over time.
