Electrolyse du CO2 en milieu carbonates fondus. Etudes fondamentales et optimisation des performances électrochimiques. Fabrication d’une cellule d’électrolyse

Abstract : Currently, it is necessary to find solutions to reduce anthropogenic CO2 emissions, in particular by capturing or valorising it. One possible way would be to transform it into a chemical product with energy value, e.g. CO. This work focuses first on the fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of electrochemical reduction of CO2 into CO in a molten carbonate eutectic, at high temperature, on a model electrode. Then, we were able to demonstrate the production of CO by gas chromatography in a molten carbonate electrolysis cell. Finally, a cermet-type electrode material based on Ni, Cu and cerium oxide was synthesized by combustion and characterized. Its electrochemical performance in a hybrid oxide/carbonate cell is promising.
