Formalisation d’un modèle prescriptif de déploiement d’une stratégie de création de valeur optimale. Application au domaine des PME

Abstract : In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are competing fiercely to maintain market share, protect the interests of their customers, while maintaining an acceptable level of profitability. Although they have a leaner structure than large companies, which allows them to be more flexible and responsive to customer demands, many SME managers have difficulty structuring a coherent and optimised strategic plan due to lack of human and financial resources, time, methodology and/or know-how. Too often, they are not prepared to face today's potential crises: strikes, insufficient cash reserves, natural disasters, pandemics, etc. and prefer to react to changes by taking short-term measures. Yet, almost 51,000 companies fail every year in our country, and for about 50% of them, the cause is a strategic mismanagement of the company. In this complex context, is it possible to design a ʺstrategy formalization and communication toolʺ adapted to industrial SMEs? Two main hypotheses are studied in this thesis through a multidisciplinary literature review, a probabilistic analysis and a feedback via two surveys and three case studies. Several theoretical contributions on the functionalities to be integrated into the Balanced Scorecard (or BSC) to make it suitable for the SME world, on the simplification of a risk analysis thanks to a Monte Carlo simulation, on the functional and visual characteristics of a risk communication table are proposed. Furthermore, the rise of Industry 4.0 as a new source of knowledge can enable managers to make decisions more quickly, shape their ability to cope with ecosystem changes and limit the risks associated with this decision-making. Also, our latest scientific contributions will focus on the application of structural least squares equations to validate the adoption of a risk communication table and a web-based strategy formalisation and communication application.
