Transition soutenable à l’échelle de l’entreprise : approche de la performation par les outils de gestion

Abstract : Under what conditions do environmental assessment tools (such as Life Cycle Assessment or the Internal Carbon Pricing) succeed in transforming practices in companies in order to better consider the environment in their decisions? Based on a research-intervention within the car manufacturer Renault, we explore in this thesis the way in which actors in the field use and interpret these tools to make sense of them. Moreover, because the transition towards sustainability is a long term process involving a multitude of actors at different levels, we propose a model of sustainability transition at the company level. We show that the impulse for such a transformation is not only the result of a top-management decision, but of multiple experiments at lower levels.
